DVD-Audio is a new music format, with a "lossless" compression technology that can provide the listener with a phenomenal audio experience in stereo and/or multi-channel surround sound (5.1). It offers a major advance in audio performance compared to a standard stereo CD with sampling rates of up to 192 kHz (compared to 44.1 kHz for CD). Mixes can also be delivered with up to 116 dB's of dynamic range (compared to 90 dB for the CD standard).
A typical DVD-Audio disc contains up to seven times the data capacity of a standard CD. This additional data capacity is used primarily for the additional bandwidth of the high definition audio - ‘stereo’ and/or ‘surround’. These discs may also offer visual content that can be accessible from on-screen menus. This may include text information such as artist biographies, photo galleries, play lists and lyrics; and even video clips.
Additional features that are also available in the DVD format include, Copy Protection, Watermarking, Challenge/Response access to additional menus, or artist web site content. As an option, a DVD-Audio disc can also include audio tracks recorded in the DVD-Video specifications such as (Dolby Digital and DTS) for compatibility with exsisting DVD-Video players.
We feel that once you can experience a 5.1 mix on a properly setup system, you will never go back to stereo!!! Think of it, as the same sonic change we went through in the 1960's from mono to stereo.

To accurately experience surround sound audio (5.1), you are required to use the setup below. This requires five identical monitors and a separate subwoofer for the (.1 channel). For systems with bass management an additional subwoofer should be setup to handle these frequencies.
